Line geometry implications on crosstalk noise minimization

چکیده
In this work the different approaches to avoid crosstalk noise in VLSI integrated circuits are presented. The geometry of the cross-section of the lines is one of the more important parameters which must be considered when crosstalk problems are analyzed. Thus depending on this parameter we can select the best rule to avoid signal integrity problems in VLSI circuits. Several structures will be presented in this work in order to demonstrate the efficiency of the rules presented. The work is based on electromagnetic simulations to obtain the parasitic parameters, and HSPICE simulations using advanced CMOS technology models and very accurate distributed line models.

Comprehensive Evaluation of Crosstalk and Delay Profiles in VLSI Interconnect Structures with Partially Coupled Lines
In this paper, we present a methodology to explore and evaluate the crosstalk noise and the profile of its variations, and the delay of interconnects through investigation of two groups of interconnect structures in nano scale VLSI circuits. The interconnect structures in the first group are considered to be partially coupled identical lines. In this case, by choosing proper values for differen...
متن کاملThree Layer Routing for Reliability Enhancement
In this paper we study two important reliability issues in deep submicron VLSI design, namely antenna eeect and crosstalk noise, in the context of three-layer channel routing. Cost functions for both of the failure mechanisms are introduced and based on these cost models, reliability enhancement techniques are presented. For antenna eeect minimization, a layer reassignment algorithm is adopted ...
متن کاملLow Dropout Based Noise Minimization of Active Mode Power Gated Circuit
Power gating technique reduces leakage power in the circuit. However, power gating leads to large voltage fluctuation on the power rail during power gating mode to active mode due to the package inductance in the Printed Circuit Board. This voltage fluctuation may cause unwanted transitions in neighboring circuits. In this work, a power gating architecture is developed for minimizing power in a...
متن کاملMinimization of Crosstalk in High Speed PCB
Crosstalk is an important problem in high-speed printed circuit board design which is one of the signal integrity issues. A wildly used theoretical model based on microstrip theory is presented in this paper. On this basis, the origin and the factors affecting crosstalk are introduced. Cadence Allegro is used to analyze these factors. Key-words: Signal integrity, crosstalk, aggressor line, vict...
متن کاملCrosstalk Minimization for Coupled Rlc Interconnects Using Bidirectional Buffer and Shield Insertion
Crosstalk noise is often induced in long interconnects running parallel to each other. There is a need to minimize the effect of these crosstalk noise so as to maintain the signal integrity in interconnects. In this paper crosstalk noise is minimized using various techniques such as repeater (bidirectional buffer) insertion along with shielding, skewing and shielding & skewing simultaneously. W...
